Bang Bang Bought!

Just came home with my copy of House of the Dead: Overkill which was released today (for Australia). Grabbed the collectors edition Bang Bang Box which came with a sleeve, a graphic novel/comic and two hand cannon cases.

I’ve only played through the first level. Initial impressions were positive, loved the overall presentation and feel of the game, it’s extremely satisfying blasting mutants especially in slow motion. Yeah I’m just pretty much regurgitating what every and anyone who’s played/reviewed this game has said.

Feels a bit slower compared to the previous House of the Dead games. Maybe it’s the niggly slowdown loading as you progress to another area, maybe it’s because reloading isn’t “instant”, maybe it’s because I’ve only played the first level.

The hand cannon cases, sturdy and the triggers feel great. Only gripe is that the barrel is long meaning it is a bit front heavy which means tired wrists if you’re playing one handed for an extended period of time.

All in all I’m pretty pleased with it so far. I’m looking forward to putting some more time into the game and invite a few friends over

Very Nice. Now I’m jealous, since in the states we only got a graphics novel as the pre-order bonus. No handcannons or collectors edition.
I really like the pressentation on the collector’s edition box.

As for the gameplay itself. I agree it does feel slower than its arcade counterparts.

Reload speeds can be upgraded and I notice that there is that small lag while you are reload.

Just a heads up regarding multiplay. The game sometimes lags during 2 player multiplay in story mode.
